Top 10 Reasons to Visit WTC This Summer

Join us for an unforgettable summer @ WTC! There are endless opportunities for exploration and new adventures in NYC - especially in the summertime. Summer programming on the WTC campus is already in motion with Wellness Wednesdays and Smorgasburg

 

Top 10 reasons to visit the WTC campus this summer:

1. Outdoor Public Art    

        a. Experience Optik, an interactive art installation created by Urban Conga, and rotate the rings to create ever-changing lights and sounds.  

        b. A Wild Life for Wildlife – Sculpture series by Gillie and Marc depicting endangered animals in different playful scenarios with a mission to inspire wildlife conservation by helping to nurture the public’s friendship with the animals.

 

2. Outdoor Dance Parties

        a. Pride – A silent disco dance party where you can dance the night away to DJ sets transmitted through provided headphones. All this with a backdrop of the Oculus lit in rainbow colors to celebrate Pride!  

        b. Dance Party NYC – Take part in the citywide dance party, which is an annual festival of music and movement.

3. Musical Performances

        a. Explore Cortlandt – Enjoy live musical performances during your lunch break every Thursday on Cortlandt Way. Performers include Tu Kan Tipico, Chelsie Denise, CeeCee just to name a few!

        b. Sing for Hope piano – Designed by Lance Johnson, musicians will perform using the Sing for Hope Piano. Whether you’re an amateur or experienced musician, the public is invited to play the piano as part of Oculus Unplugged every Monday and Thursday on the Oculus floor.

 

4. Food

        a. Smorgasburg – Indulge in a variety of eats and treats from over 20 local vendors during this food festival every Friday.

        b. Farmers' Market – Shop for fruits and vegetables, baked goods, and dairy products from New York family farmers every Tuesday.

        c. Beer Garden – Soak up amazing views of the World Trade Center campus while enjoying drinks and bites.

5. Women’s World Cup

        a. Cheer for your favorite soccer team during our outdoor streaming of select Women’s World Cup games on a large screen.

 

6. Workout and Wellness Classes

        a. Wellness Wednesdays – Get moving with a range of fitness and wellness classes curated by Sputnik Yoga.

7. Holiday Lightings in the Oculus

        a. Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Pride, July 4, Labor Day – The Oculus’ LED vanity lights will shine in varying colors to honor these holidays and make for the perfect photo op.

 

8. Celebrations of Diverse Cultural Heritages

        a. Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month – Two musical performances to celebrate AAPI heritage.

        b. Juneteenth – Commemorate the holiday with a musical performance by the Sammy Buttons Experience.

9. Oculus Outdoor Movies

        a. Catch a flick al fresco at Oculus Outdoors, where we will screen a variety of movies, from family-friendly afternoon matinees to romantic comedy evening flicks.

 

10. Shared Streets on Fulton Street

        a. Fulton Street will activate beginning in June with seating, public art, and family-friendly activities. Stop by and take a swing at mini-golf!
