Arts & Culture Programming Relaunches on the WTC Campus
As the year kicks off, the arts and culture programming season on the WTC campus is restarting, bringing a celebration of diverse cultures and traditions. From dance and music to art installations, the season showcases the talent and creativity of artists from around the globe. This month, we are celebrating Lunar New Year and Black History Month.
Lunar New Year
Join us as we ring in the Year of the Dragon and be a part of this cultural celebration with art, music, dance, and festive Oculus Lights. This year, we partnered with the Asian Culture Center (ACC) featuring theBLANC, New York Chinese Cultural Center (NYCCC), and Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation in partnership with the Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC). All events will take place on the Oculus floor and begin on February 6.
Programming is family-friendly and free. Aside from the live performances and activities, there will also be a large art installation on the Oculus floor – The Red Ball Art Festival, which will be a festive photo-op for the whole family to enjoy. Find the full schedule of events here.
Black History Month
This Black History Month, we are launching a new platform for our ongoing arts and culture programming – outdoor display panels that will exhibit a variety of mediums, from art, poetry, photography, history, and more. To welcome our first display panel installation, NYC Culture Club in collaboration with Anwarii Musa, founder of ArtMatic, will curate “As We Rise in Times,” an art exhibit in celebration of Black History Month. It will feature artists from across the country that encapsulate its essence and notion of uplifting oneself or their community as they acknowledge the past, reflecting on the present, and inspire a future where unity and understanding prevail. This exhibit will be on display all month on the North Oculus Plaza. The panels will display exhibitions on a rotating, seasonal basis and located on various spaces on campus. Join us as we jump into the 2024 event season and celebrate and appreciate the diverse cultures that make up our community. Through live performances, art exhibitions, culinary delights, and community engagement, the World Trade Center campus is a beacon for cultural exchange.
